KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 — Dropped from Cabinet, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin promised tonight to answer all questions about his shocking exclusion in a sudden ministerial shake-up tomorrow morning.
Emerging from his home in the upscale Damansara Heights neighbourhood, the Umno deputy president told reporters gathered outside since 2pm that he would not be making anymore comments for now after releasing a written statement on his axing earlier today.
“I have already issued my statement today and the media has already covered it. I will not be making any new statements,” he said.
“I will be having a pc tomorrow here at 11am. Then I’ll be explaining whatever questions posed by all of you no matter local or foreign media,” he added, using the abbreviation for press conference.
The former deputy prime minister declined to entertain questions from journalists waiting in the dark outside his house gates after delivering his short speech and disappeared into his home.
Soon after, Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir was spotted entering Muhyiddin’s residence.
Muhyiddin’s home became a rallying point for his supporters from Umno just hours after his shock removal from Cabinet.
Other key Umno personalities who have visited Muhyiddin today include Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal, who was similarly dropped from Cabinet after voicing criticisms against debt-riddled 1Malaysia Development Berhad, and Cheras Umno chief Datuk Seri Syed Ali Alhabshee.
