KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 ― A fifteen-month-old boy had his right hand severed at the wrist after it got stuck in an escalator at KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur.
According to Harian Metro, the boy was believed to be playing near the escalator when the incident took place around 6.30am yesterday.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad says the boy’s parents who were busy shopping, were not aware that he had wandered off towards the escalator.
“The boy was on his way to the first floor when his right hand got stuck in the escalator. The severed hand fell in between the gap of the escalator,” he added.
Harian Metro reported that the victim’s hand was only recovered two hours later.
