KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 — Datuk Seri Seri Najib’s refusal to list down 1 Malaysia Development Berhad’s (1MDB)  principal and interest repayments for its bonds and debts for the year is unacceptable given mounting criticism against the troubled firm, Rafizi Ramli said today.

In a May 21 written reply to the PKR MP, the prime minister said that the information requested has yet to be audited and it is standard practice for the company to only publicly present details and figures that have been audited.

“His (Najib’s) excuse is unacceptable and does not make sense. It is an answer for a Standard Five kid.

“Ridiculous because every year, the audit will involve the determination and certification of a company’s scheduled commitment for the next 20, 30 years,” Rafizi told a news conference here.

The PKR secretary-general claimed that 1MDB’s 2014 financial audit has details of the state investment fund’s principal and interest repayments for all its debts.

1MDB was incorporated in 2009 after Najib announced the decision to turn Terengganu Investment Authority (TIA) into a federal agency.

The Auditor-General and Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) are currently investigating 1MDB, a state-owned firm that has reportedly amassed debts of some RM42 billion in just six years since it was incorporated in 2009.
