KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 — A local actor was imposed a fine of RM100 or 10 days’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today for insulting a traffic policeman.
Keith Foo Chuan Chin, 32, admitted before Magistrate Nur’Aminahtul Mardiah Md Nor to committing the offence near the roundabout to Kg Pandan at Jalan Davis in Dang Wangi here at 4.30am on March 15.
His fiancée, Kim Raymond who had accompanied him to court, settled the fine for him.
According to the facts of the case, the ‘Ariana Rose’ drama series actor who also starred in ‘Love You Mr Arrogant’, hurled the words, “Kau siapa, kau ingat kau polis besar sangatkah, bodoh”, at Faizul Amri Md Zan.
The policeman had earlier intercepted a Mercedes-Benz driven by Kim, 30, a model.
The woman allegedly failed a breathalyser test for alcohol after recording 203 mg, which prompted Foo to come out of the car and lash at the policeman.
In mitigation, the actor who was unrepresented expressed remorse for his action and said he would not repeat it.
Nevertheless, deputy public prosecutor Noor Svetlana Mohd Noor Nordin urged the court to impose an appropriate sentence as a lesson to Foo for showing disrespect to an enforcement personnel.
“Being well known among the local public, he should be an exemplary figure,” she said. — Bernama
