SEREMBAN, May 14 ― Rahang assemblyman Mary Joseph Prittam Singh voiced her concern over the slow pace of the investigation into the death of Sister Juliana Lim and also the crime rate in her constituency.
“I am disappointed with what is happening and would like an answer from the police on what is being done,” she said.
“We have no updates on the investigation. Someone has paid with her life, and the crimes in the area show no signs of slowing down.”
Mary Joseph said she constantly received complaints from the people about the rampant crimes taking place.
“Cars are still being broken into, and people’s bags are still getting snatched. These incidents are happening on private properties and in parking lots, in broad daylight,” she said.
“The mobile station set up in front of the church after the incident was only temporary and did not make a difference.
“I have a sponsor willing to fund the construction of a pondok poli, but my request has been rejected by the police.
“My offer still stands, subject to the proper procedures that need to be taken.
“This is a crime-prone area and the traders are still insecure and fearful of their safety. As a member of the parish, I would like to appeal to the police to be present during worshipping times as their presence would deter such activities,” she said.
May 14 marks the one-year anniversary of the attacks on the two elderly nuns outside the Church of the Visitation.
