KATHMANDU, April 10 — Search teams have so far found no trace of Malaysian tourist Dennis Lee Thian Poh, who has gone missing since April 5 in the Ghorepani area of Myagdi district, about 450km northwest of Kathmandu.
Two teams, one with sniffer dogs and the other an aerial team, have been dispatched to the areas along Ghorepani-Ghandruk route to trace Lee’s whereabouts, said Jit Bahadur Masrangi, director of SAR Dogs Nepal.
“They have combed the entire Ghorepani-Ghandruk route but no clue has been found,” he said.
Ghorepani Police Station has, meanwhile, put up a public notice announcing US$500 (RM1,830) prize for anyone who gives the first clue on Dennis’ whereabouts.
“We have announced the cash prize to motivate the local people to help us with the search of the missing Malaysian citizen,” said Pankaj Shrestha, a deputy superintendent of police.
Lee, 47, who went hiking on the Pokhara-Mustang route with a group of eight friends from the Philippines, was last seen on April 5 in Ghorepani, police said.
The group was handled by Holiday Tibet Trekking Company, said Sonam Shrepa, director of the company. — Bernama
