KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 ― PKR leaders should stop pointing fingers at others for their weaknesses, an aide of Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said today after the former Selangor mentri besar was accused of leading a renegade faction to promote Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the next party leader.
Faekah Husin, who is special officer to the Port Klang assemblyman, told the federal opposition party’s leadership to “self reflect” instead of pushing the blame on to its former members.
“The action by PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil who so easily and irresponsibly accused Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as the hidden mastermind behind the demonstration is a childish act to hide their own weaknesses,” she said in a statement.
“As a statesman Tan Sri Khalid is renown for his transparency and accountability therefore to accuse him as the hidden mastermind is an extreme insult by the PKR leadership,” she added.
Khalid had been a PKR member till August last year when he was expelled for going against the party leaderships orders.
Faekah demanded PKR apologise for its accusation.
Yesterday, Fahmi told Malay Mail Online that demonstrators who called for former prime minister Dr Mahathir to replace Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as PKR de facto leader, was part of a renegade faction aligned to former member Khalid.
The opposition party has been left effectively headless following the jailing of Anwar earlier this week on a sodomy charge even though his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is officially PKR president.
The demonstration against the PKR leadership has been described as an act of desperation by Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, according to a Bernama report.
