SEMPORNA, Jan 10 ― Marine police here busted an attempt to smuggle out 5,500 litres of petrol worth RM18,450 last night.
Its regional commander ACP Mohamad Madun said in a statement today, that a marine team raided a jetty near Kampung Ice Box at 9pm, following a public tip-off.
He said the team found petrol being siphoned from a tank on a parked lorry into a drum and the petrol tank of a boat.
Aside from the petrol, an Isuzu lorry, two oil tanks, a boat with its engine and other paraphernalia were also confiscated in the raid. The total value of the seizure was RM164,776, he said in a statement here today. ― Bernama
