KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 — The Sessions Court today adjourned a case involving a hotel receptionist, who was charged with allegedly raping an Australian tourist, for mention next month.
The Star Online reported that Sessions Court judge Azman Mustapha decided on the date after deputy public prosecutor Norazlin Mohamad Yusoff informed the court over the inavailability of the chemist’s report and asked for the next date for mention.
Judge Azman then fixed January 8 as the next date of mention.
Roaquin Radzmund Muhammed Reduan, 25, was accused of raping the 27-year-old tourist, who was visiting the country to attend her friend’s wedding, at a room in a five-star hotel here at about 5am on October 19, this year.
According to the news portal, he was apprehended the same day and was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code.
Roaquin claimed trial to the charge when he was brought to court on October 21.
Counsel Zamri Ibrahim represented Roaquin, while Counsel Tania Scivetti is holding a watching brief for the victim.
