KEMAMAN, March 9 ― Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said Malaysian police are working with international intelligence agencies to investigate the missing of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH370.
He said police were gathering information from various parties apart from reviewing the closed circuit television recordings at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport prior to the departure of flight.
Police were not attributing terrorist threat as the main factor for the disappearance of Flight MH370 but did not rule out such a possibility, he told a media conference here today.
As such, he told the people not to speculate on the identities of the passengers reported to have boarded the aircraft using forged passports.
At a media conference in the federal capital today, Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the names of four passengers who were alleged to be travelling on forged passports had been hand over to local and foreign intelligence agencies for further investigations.
Elaborating further, Khalid said police would also be deploying their personnel to assist in the search and rescue operation.
The Boeing 777-200ER plane used for Flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing was reported missing from the air traffic control tower radar about one hour after taking off from the Kuala Lumpur International Airpotr (KLIA) at 12.41am on Saturday.
The aircraft was carrying 227 passengers from 14 countries apart from 12 Malaysian crew members.
Earlier, Khalid presented aid contributions to 147 police personnel who were affected by floods in early last December. ― Bernama
