KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 — Lawyer Rosli Dahlan was today awarded RM150,000 each from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and New Straits Times after the High Court here ruled in favour of his defamation suit against the two.
In her decision finding both the newspaper and government agency guilty of defamation today, Judicial Commissioner Siti Khadijah Badjenid also directed the two to pay RM30,000 each in costs, new portal Malaysiakini reported.
It is understopod that the NST had linked Rosli with the RM27 million story involving former Commercial Crimes Investigation Department director Ramli Yusoff.
Earlier on, Utusan Malaysia and the Star had also apologised for defaming Rosli in 2007 for publishing the same story.
The MACC previously charged Rosli with a failure to declare his assets but that was also defeated in the High Court.
