IPOH, Sept 30 — Perak MCA rubbished allegations that divisional leaders in the state had been offered RM20,000 each to declare support for party president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek to defend his seat in the party election.
Gopeng MCA division chairman Albert Chang said money politics is not workable in the party election.
“Even if money is offered how would you know who have they voted for? I did not receive anything. There is no such thing and it is nonsense,” he said.
Chang claimed he has never heard of such a practise.
Ipoh Timur MCA division chairman Datuk Chew Wai Khoon said the allegation was untrue and it was made by parties that wanted to tarnish the divisional leaders reputations.
Echoing similar sentiments was Kampar MCA division chairman Datuk Lee Chee Leong.
It was reported yesterday that 21 out of 24 of the MCA divisions in Perak have voiced support for Dr Chua to defend his seat in the party election.
However, party insiders claimed the state divisions had been enticed with cash to support Dr Chua ahead of the party polls in December.
