MELAKA, Sept 20 — Thirty-four foreigners were detained by the Melaka Immigration Department in a 6P integrated operation at two separate locations around the city, here last night.
Melaka Immigration Deputy Director (Control) Abu Bakar Sidek Hasan said 15 of the people detained were Nepalese nationals while the rest were Indonesian nationals, all men between the ages of 20 and 48.
“The first raid was carried out at a guard house at Ayer Keroh where 15 Nepalese men were detained. The Immigration team also detained three Indonesian men who were in a car during the raid.
“The second raid was carried out at Kampung Tedung, Jasin following information received from the villagers where 16 Indonesian men were detained. They did not have any identification document and were believed to have been brought by someone to the village for employment,” he said at a press conference in Ayer Keroh, here today. — Bernama
