KINABATANGAN, July 25 — Police have detained a plantation labourer on suspicion of beating to death an Indonesian woman in her 50s at Peringkat 3 Ladang Kelapa Sawit Amalania, Jalan Jeroco yesterday.
Kinabatangan district police chief DSP Martin Lugu said the Filipino suspect aged 22, was arrested six hours after the discovery of the woman’s body by a security guard at the plantation at 10.05am.
“The man has admitted beating up the victim named Bong Bong because of debts,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Martin said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, while the remains of the woman who did not possess any identification document had been sent to the Lahad Datu Hospital for post mortem. – Bernama
