SUBANG JAYA, Aug 26 — Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) has recently unveiled Malaysia’s first ExacTrac Dynamic system, a new image-guided radiotherapy and radiosurgery technology designed to deliver cancer and cranial treatments with sub-millimetric precision.
In a press statement, the hospital said the technology enables safer, faster and more accurate treatment by integrating surface guidance, thermal imaging and X-ray monitoring to track patient movement in real time.
“The launch of ExacTrac Dynamic marks another important milestone for SJMC in advancing precision medicine. Every innovation we introduce is made with our patients’ well-being in mind.” said chiefoperating officer Rachel Woo.
The system, already in use in Europe and the United States, allows doctors to treat cancers in the brain, spine, lung, breast, prostate and liver, as well as non-cancer conditions such as arteriovenous malformations.
SJMC consultant clinical oncologist Dr Winnie Ng said the level of accuracy makes it possible to treat tumours in delicate or hard-to-reach areas.
“For many, this means fewer treatment sessions, faster recovery, reduced hospital visits and less disruption to their daily lives,” she said.
The system is said to prioritise patient comfort, with features such as an open-face mask, tattoo-free positioning and shorter treatment times.
SJMC, which is marking its 40th anniversary this year, is ranked among the top three hospitals in Malaysia by Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals and recognised internationally for oncology care.
