KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 28 — Antara Restaurant celebrates time-honoured Malaysian flavours with a French flair.

Located at Jalan Raja Chulan, the signature dish here — the Marron Lobster Sarawak Laksa — is an example of the sumptuous twists offered at Antara.

Their take of the Santubong version of the popular dish has a thicker and creamier broth.

The master stock, which is boiled for three days, uses the best ingredients such as fresh Marron lobster, hand-pounded sambal belacan made from Bintulu belacan and handmade tofu from Bentong, Pahang.

For RM44, the laksa is served with rice noodles, bean sprouts and limau kasturi which has deseeded.

Another sumptuous take of a popular street fare is the Foie Gras and Jumbo Oyster "Orchien" Omelette, with pan seared foie gras and generous amounts of plump imported oysters, priced at RM85.

And the most interesting way to wash your meal down?

The Terribly Alcoholic Cendol. This is made from three varieties of alcohol, with cendol strips made from mint liqueur, sago balls from Kahlua and gula Melaka spiked with Bacardi.

At RM38, the shaved ice is made from frozen fresh coconut cream to ensure the cendol is not diluted as the ice melts.
