PUTRAJAYA, June 14 — Proton Holdings Bhd today introduced the fourth generation of its flagship Perdana, in the latest foray into the executive sedan segment by the national carmaker.
The new Perdana will come in two variants, a 2.0L 16-valve single cam engine that produces 154 horsepower and a 2.4L twin-cam version with 178 horsepower; both are four-cylinder engines.
The Perdana 2.0 is priced at RM113,888 while the Perdana 2.4 will start from RM138,888.
“I am pleased to be here today to launch Proton’s latest executive sedan, the new Proton Perdana. I hope, I really hope it will be a turning point for Proton,” Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said in his speech at the launch here.
Proton’s chief executive officer, Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali said the new Perdana showed the national carmaker will try its best to be the best value for money.
The sedan is the latest iteration of the company’s collaboration with Honda Motor Co. The first and second generations of the model was based on a Mitsubishi Motor Co platform.
