PUTRAJAYA, Jan 14 — The Home Ministry has reminded Malaysian travellers who use the MyNIISe app at the Johor-Singapore border to register for a MyDigital ID by tomorrow to continue using the fast-track immigration system.
The ministry said this integration will be immediately enforced for new users of the National Integrated Immigration System (MyNIISe) app starting from January 15.
However, a grace period will be given to existing users. Those who are already using MyNIISe can continue to log in via their current methods until the app's trial period ends on February 28 giving them more time to register for their MyDigital ID.
For travellers who do not use the MyNIISe app, immigration clearance will continue as normal.
They will still have the option to use the MyBorderPass autogate, the standard passport-scanning autogate, or manual inspection counters.
The ministry explained that MyDigital ID functions as a secure digital key to verify a user's identity against the National Registration Department (JPN) database without storing any personal information within the app.
This is designed to prevent digital identity fraud and ensure secure access to the nation's digital immigration services.
The integration of MyDigital ID will also allow users to access additional MyNIISe functions that will be introduced after the trial period.
The government plans to expand the use of the MyNIISe and MyDigital ID system in stages to other major entry points, including KLIA Terminals 1 and 2, as well as the international airports in Bayan Lepas, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu.
