SINGAPORE, June 11 — With the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced yesterday that it is waiving cancellation fees, as well as administrative fees for refund, rebooking or re-routing for customers holding confirmed tickets on SIA flights arriving or departing from Seoul’s Incheon International Airport.
In an announcement on its website, Singapore’s flagship carrier said that the waiver is valid for all commercial SIA fare tickets issued on or before June 9, until (and including) June 22.
Similarly, SIA’s budget airline Scoot announced on its website that it will allow customers who made bookings for travel to Incheon on or before June 3, and up to June 15, to either rebook their flight to another destination or move it to another date. However, they will still have to pay the fare difference.
So far, the outbreak has claimed the lives of nine in South Korea. 13 new cases were confirmed today. The number of people who may have been in contact with MERS patients and quarantined has risen to 3,439. — TODAY
