HANOI, June 5 – Ha Long Bay in northern coastal province of Quang Ninh has been named one of the top eight green spaces/national parks in Asia by leading hotel booking website Agoda.com, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reports.

Ha Long Bay is placed at fourth position after the Hallasan National Park in South Korea, the Taroko National Park in China's Taiwan and Osaka Castle Park in Japan.

Ha Long Bay covers 1,553 square kilometres and has 1,969 islands of various sizes.      

On Dec 17, 1994, the bay was listed as a World Heritage site by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and in 2011 beat 261 other landscapes to be voted as one of the seven new natural wonders of the world.

The last four destinations in the list are Ang Thong National Marine Park and Khao Yai National Park (Thailand), Penang National Park (Malaysia) and Rizal Park (Philippines). — Bernama
