NEW YORK, April 26 — After mobile phones, airlines are teaming up with smartwatch makers to develop wearable boarding passes.
Instead of digging frantically through carry-on bags looking for flyaway boarding passes, travellers wearing smartwatches need just flash their wrist to scanners.
Spanish carrier Iberia, for example, has partnered with Samsung to develop a feature that will allow passengers to download their boarding pass directly to their Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch, reports trade website Futuretravelexperience.com.
Likewise, flyers with AirBerlin can send their digital boarding pass to their Pebble or Pebble Steel smartwatch from the carrier’s iPhone app.
Low-cost Spanish airline Vueling, meanwhile, can claim bragging rights to having pioneered the wearable technology last month, in a collaboration with the Sony Smartwatch 2. — AFP-Relaxnews
