SINGAPORE, March 18 ― More than 420 seniors will be taking part in Singapore’s largest inter-generational IT bootcamp to date where they will be guided through basic infocomm lessons by their grandchildren or student volunteers aged between 10 to 16 years old.

The six-day bootcamp, which started on Monday, will see the seniors undergoing a range of workshops on topics such as learning how to view videos and share photos on Facebook to chatting online using social media apps. In all, 13 schools in the Tanjong Pagar Group Representative Constituency and Radin Mas Single Member Constituency will be involved in the workshops. The bootcamp is one of the activities under the Silver Infocomm Initiative to get seniors digitally connected. One of the volunteers, Kyle Yap, 10 said “When the elderly were young, they didn’t have Internet and technology, but now that they have a chance to use it, it is good.” ― Today
