SHAH ALAM, Feb 26 — Sarawak beat PKNS 3-2 in a pulsating Super League game at Shah Alam Stadium yesterday.
Croatian Mateo Roskam opened the scoring for Sarawak in the 18 minute.
Lucas Espinolda equalised in the 55th minute, but two minutes later, Mark Hartmann restored the Crocs’ lead.
Substitute Hafiz Abu Bakar put the game beyond PKNS’ reach with a third in the 63rd minute before Khairul Ramadhan pulled one back in stoppage time.
Sarawak captain Ronny Harun said he hoped they could carry on their winning run.
“Our fans are suffering as we haven’t given them much to cheer about at home,” said Ronny, referring to their winless run on home turf this year.
PKNS were left to rue missing several clear cut chances.
They clearly missed striker Matias Jadue who suffered a muscle tear two days ago.
The Palestinian would be out of action for at least a week.
“It was an even game but Sarawak took their chances well,” admitted PKNS coach E. Elavarasan.
“The game opened once we were 1-0 down. From there we were left chasing the game.
“When the second and third goals went in, we had no chance to salvage the game.
“We have to stop conceding soft goals,” he added.
Sarawak coach David Usop admitted they were lucky to get three points.
“We knew Safee (Sali) and Patrick (Wleh) could cause havoc so we limited their space and movement,” he said.
“We used our speed on the flanks to bypass their midfield and the plan worked.
“In the end its three valuable points from an away game. We were lucky to get the win but it was a good performance nonetheless.”
Sarawak are now level on points with PKNS with seven points.
