INCHEON, Sept 26 — Malaysia’s Asia Games national contingent chief Datuk Daniyal Balagopal Abdullah says the relevant authorities will study a report on a national male wushu athlete who allegedly tested positive in a urine test conducted by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
He said the report was being scrutinised as there appeared to be something amiss.
“They have given the report to us. We are making observations. So far, nothing has been done.
“This often happens when a country wins its first gold. They take an athlete for doping but the report takes a long time. We feel that something is not right,” he said when met here today.
A report by China’s news agency, Xinhua quoting a source close to the OCA revealed that other than the national wushu athlete, a Tajjikistan football player and a Cambodian soft tennis player had also allegedly tested positive for drugs.
Four male athletes from the national wushu squad who completed their events yesterday, will arrive in Kuala Lumpur today. — Bernama
