KOTA BAHARU, Aug 24 — The Kelantan Football Association's (Kafa) decision to remain tight-lipped over the issue of their player failing a dope test was to avoid being sub judice as the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) was still investigating the case said its former President.
Tan Sri Annuar Musa, Kafa's former president who is facing a 30-month suspension by the FAM, said Kafa has remained silent over the matter to allow the procedure to take its course.
Kafa do not want to issue any statements because whatever said may be sub judice because in a doping case there are procedures to follow and the process of investigation and trial is not over, he said.
"Kafa cannot reveal the name of the player because if we do it will be interfering with the investigation. Let the investigation process take its course," he told reporters at a Aidilfitri open house with Giat Mara of Kelantan, here, today.
He was earlier asked to comment on a Kelantan player who was alleged to have failed a random dope test after the FA Cup final against Johor Darul Takzim in June.
Annuar said the case was not over yet since the FAM had given Kafa the option to test Sample B in India to determine the validity of the first test conducted by the FAM.
"However, Kafa has no plans to carry out the second test because initial investigations has revealed that the player had consumed a certain medicine.
The issue is not over yet because the FAM Disciplinary Committee is expected to haul up the player for a hearing. "He will be given an opportunity to explain what medicine he had consumed," he said.— Bernama
