BERLIN, Dec 1 — German cinematographer Michael Ballhaus will receive an honorary Golden Bear award at the next Berlin International Film Festival, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Ballhaus, who worked on Gangs of New York and The Colour of Money, is best known for his collaboration with Martin Scorsese and Rainer Werner Fassbinder. He has lent his cinematographic talents to The Last Temptation of Christ, Goodfellas, Dracula, Working Girl and Sleepers, among other pictures.
He received an Oscar nomination for best cinematography for Gangs, in addition to The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989) and Broadcast News (1987).
Ballhaus will receive the Golden Bear at the February 18 festival, ahead of a special screening of Gangs of New York. — AFP-Relaxnews
