SINGAPORE, Aug 18 — Singer-actress Vivian Hsu announced the arrival of her son Dalton Lee via her social media accounts yesterday.
The Straits Times reported that Hsu underwent a Caesarean section at Mount Elizabeth Hospital last Thursday, but only made the announcement after she had recovered from the operation.
This is her first child with Singapore-based, Indonesian-born businessman Sean Lee.
Hsu also revealed in an emotional Facebook posting that they had decided to name their son Dalton because both parents’ names end with an “n”, and “D” comes in between the “C” and “E” in the names of Hsu’s step-daughters Clara and Elisha.
The post, written from Dalton’s perspective in Chinese, said: “Mummy says my long eyes and long fingers are like hers and the rest of me resembles my dad! But sorry to say, granny thinks I’m more handsome than daddy!”
The 40-year-old has endured a difficult pregnancy, which has seen her spend more than 140 days being bed-ridden, under doctors’ orders, at the hospital in Singapore, The New Paper reported.
It is understood that Hsu waited until the 32-week mark to undergo the procedure to minimise complications for Dalton upon his birth.
Hsu is famous for Chinese blockbusters “The Accidental Spy” starring Jackie Chan, and “The Emperor and the White Snake” starring Jet Li.
She is expected to return to work in March.
