SINGAPORE, July 31 — Three Malaysians will be competing in the first MasterChef Asia when it premieres on Sept 3.

Malaysias’s representatives are Marcus Low, Jasbir Kaur and Sophia Zulkifli. While the latter two are homemakers who have experience cooking at home for their families, Low is a banker.

They won’t be competing just with each other but with contestants from China, India, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam as well.

Judging the competition will be Audra Morrice, a Singapore-born former MasterChef Australia finalist, Hong Kong-born celebrity chef Susur Lee and three-Michelin-starred chef Bruno Menard.

The winner get to publish his or her own cookbook as well as the following prizes: US$50,000 cash, US$10,000 worth of leisure experiences in Singapore, US$15,000 of Panasonic home appliances, a paid internship at one of Carlton Hotel Singapore’s restaurants and a one-week stay at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
