SINGAPORE, Oct 18 — The Singapore Sports Hub has revised its events calendar so as to optimise pitch recovery at the National Stadium ahead of the AFF Suzuki Cup from November 22 to December 20.
The Jay Chou concert, originally scheduled for November 8, has been pushed back to December 27. Mariah Carey’s concert on October 24 will still go on, but see its stage setup altered so that no activity happens on the pitch.
“As we now begin to look forward to the AFF Suzuki Cup next month, we have had to make some difficult decisions to ensure this regional competition has the best chance for success with regards to the quality of the National Stadium pitch,” said Sports Hub Chief Operating Officer Oon Jin Teik, as he announced the decisions made to help “optimise” pitch recovery in a statement.
Thanking the public for the feedback over the last four months, Oon said: “This feedback has helped us reach a level of service where we can successfully host over 51,000 fans for the Japan-Brazil international friendly, and we are making these difficult decisions now in the interest of our long-term goal to develop and further enhance the spectator experience.”
Ticket holders for the Jay Chou concert can still use their original tickets for the December 27, 8pm show. A full refund will be given to those who are unable to make the later date. Refund requests are to be made by November 9, 8pm.
For the Mariah Carey concert, Sports Hub is offering fans affected by the stage shift a S$10 (RM25.70) F&B voucher and the option of reallocating their seats or a full refund. ― Today
