KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 — Short-term interbank rates are expected to remain stable today on Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM)’s intervention to absorb excess liquidity from the financial system.

Bank Negara estimated today’s liquidity at RM20.07 billion in the conventional system and RM6.62 billion in Islamic funds.

The central bank will conduct two conventional money market tenders comprising RM1.0 billion for seven days and RM500 million for 14 days.

The central bank will conduct a RM600 million repo tender for 31 days and will also call for two Al-Wadiah tenders comprising RM1.2 billion for nine days and RM1.0 billion for 14 days, as well as, a RM400 million commodity murabahah programme for 30 days.

At 4pm, Bank Negara will conduct up to RM18.0 billion in conventional overnight tenders and a RM4.0 billion Al-Wadiah overnight tender. — Bernama
