KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 — Bursa Malaysia ended marginally higher today with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) closing 3.03 points or 0.16 per cent better at 1,874.12.

 

CIMB Group Holdings was the top contributor to the composite index, gaining seven sen to RM7.32, with 2.84 million shares changing hands.  Other support to the key index came from component stocks including Digi.com and Genting Malaysia which edged up six sen each to RM5.85 and RM4.32 respectively, and Tenaga Nasional which added eight sen to RM12.54.

On the broader market, losers outpaced gainers by 420 to 399, with 333 counters unchanged, 455 counters untraded and 19 others suspended.

Total volume contracted to 2.45 billion shares worth RM2.02 billion from 2.68 billion shares worth RM1.93 billion yesterday.

On other scoreboards, the FBM Emas Index was 5.71 points higher at 13,076.67, the FBMT100 Index appreciated 7.89 points to 12,655.93 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index was 0.22 point better at 13,326.73.

The FBM 70 shed 39.42 points to 14,328.66 and the FBM Ace soared 85.51 points to 7,127.74, while on a sectorial basis, the Finance Index dipped 11.22 points to 17,557.28, the Industrial Index decreased 3.70 points to 3,250.49 and the Plantation Index trimmed 12.61 points to 8,524.57. 

Among actively traded stocks, Globaltec Formation was flat at 10 sen, AT Systematization went up 1.5 sen to 12 sen, RGB International and Asia Bioenergy both gained half a sen to 17.5 sen and 15 sen respectively, and Konsortium Transnasional added 8 sen to 38.5 sen.

Danainfra Nasional led the top gainers, adding RM1.00 to RM98.00, while the top loser was KL Kepong, which fell 22 sen to RM21.98.

The Main Market volume decreased to 1.72 billion units worth RM1.87 billion, from yesterday’s 1.86 billion units worth RM1.78 billion. 

Turnover on the ACE Market contracted to 705.81 million shares valued at RM137.68 million, from 786.53 million shares valued at RM97.41 million previously.

Warrants declined to 24.82 million units worth RM3.28 million from Monday’s 33.14 million units worth RM5.50 million.

Consumer products accounted for 152.02 million shares traded on the Main Market, industrial products (335.54 million), construction (64.60 million), trade and services (771.02 million), technology (58.24 million), infrastructure (9.72 million), SPAC (66.53 million), finance (30.90 million), hotels (3.33 million), properties (151.71 million), plantations (65.11 million), mining (111,000), REITs (8.54 million) and closed/fund (35,300). — Bernama
