KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 8 — Bursa Malaysia was range-bound at mid-afternoon today, with buying interest interspersed with profit-taking.
At 3pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,868.54 points, up 0.08 point.
The key benchmark index traded within a narrow range of between 1869.77 and 1865.53.
Buying support for Tenaga and other heavyweights among finance-related companies were seen supporting the bourse.
Contributing 1.78 points to the composite index, Tenaga chalked up 18 sen to RM12.44 with 1,339,700 lots traded.
Hong Leong Financial Group went up 40 sen to RM18.00, AMMB Holdings added 12 sen to RM7.01 and Hong Leong Bank gained 16 sen to RM14.90.
On the other scoreboards, the FBM Emas Index dipped 0.50 point to 13,055.10 and the FBMT100 Index shed 1.11 points to 12,634.56 but the FBM Emas Syariah Index rose 14.37 points to 13,309.09.
The FBM 70 lost 7.41 points to 14,367.41, the FBM Ace surged 76.21 points to 7,015.92 while the Finance Index advanced 6.61 points to 17,538.49, the Industrial Index added 1.40 points to 3,251.85 and the Plantation Index edged down 34.26 points to 8,533.36.
Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing losers 414 to 339 with 309 counters unchanged, 563 counters untraded and 36 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.87 billion shares worth RM1.05 billion.
Of the actively traded stocks, PDZ Holdings went up half a sen to 34.5 sen, Marco Holdings edged up a sen to 22 sen and Efficient E-Solutions added 1.5 sen to 34 sen. — Bernama
