KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia rebounded in early trade today after a steep fall yesterday, dealers said.

At 9.42am, the key index stood at 1,864.35, up 2.04 points, after opening higher at 1,863.11.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 35.74 points to 17,417.98, the Industrial Index gained 1.71 points to 3,237.57 and the Plantation Index gained 17.42 points to 8,487.77.  

The FBM Emas Index edged up 13.851 points to 13,027.65, FBMT100 Index increased 11.73 points to 12,596.83, FBM 70 climbed 5.271 points to 14,288.16 and the FBM Ace advanced 36.81 points to 7,021.43.

Gainers led losers 303 to 149 while 254 counters were unchanged, 930 untraded and 22 suspended.

Turnover stood at 582.47 million shares worth RM226.07 million.

Heavyweights, Maybank added six sen to RM10.14 while Public Bank was flat at RM19.34.

TNB lost two sen to RM12.40.

Among actives, RGB added two sen to 15 sen, Sumatec gained 1.5 sen to 49 sen and Takaso climbed half-a-sen to 40.5 sen. — Bernama
