KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 — The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rebounded today, in tandem with regional markets, following the positive overnight performance on Wall Street, dealers said.
At 9.15am, the key index stood at 1,864.31, up 2.56 points, after opening 1.22 points firmer at 1,862.97.
On the scoreboard, the Finance Index rose 46.77 points to 17,371.23 but the Industrial Index dropped 1.74 points to 3,242.34 and the Plantation Index fell 14.08 points to 8,794.24.
The FBM Emas Index added 20.89 points to 13,070.66, FBMT100 Index increased 19.19 points to 12,617.91, FBM 70 climbed 28.91 points to 14,394.29 and the FBM Ace perked 33.01 points to 7,312.65.
Gainers led losers 222 to 98 while 1,328 other counters were unchanged.
Turnover stood at 405.6 lots million shares worth RM 150.06 million.
Heavyweights, Maybank was four sen higher at RM10.06, Public Bank gained two sen to RM19.44 and Tenaga rose 8.0 sen to RM12.38.
Among actives, Globaltec Formation added half-a-sen to 11 sen, Sumatec inched up 1.0 sen to 60 and PDZ perked three sen to 34.5 sen. — Bernama
