KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 — The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) on Bursa Malaysia opened higher lifted by buying interest in bluechip stocks.

At 9.30am, the key index stood at 1,866.57, up 1.37 points, after opening 4.78 points firmer at 1,869.98.

Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing losers 174 to 121, while 203 counters were unchanged, 1,108 untraded and 18 others were suspended.

Turnover stood at 135.68 million shares worth RM91.37 million.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index added 23.551 points to 17,246.34, the Plantation Index slipped 9.58 points to 9,172.52 and the Industrial Index shed 0.82 of a point to 3,163.31.

The FBM Emas Index was 5.11 points higher at 12,931.63, the FBMT100 Index gained 5.11 points to 12,578.08, the FBM Ace rose 13.98 points to 6,571.75 while the FBM 70 fell 10.311 points to 14,138.39.

Among actives, Salcon and Eti Tech gained half-a-sen each to 83.5 sen and 11.5 sen, respectively, Sona Petroleum added two sen to 61.5 sen, KNM earned three sen to 78.5 sen and MAS was flat at 18 sen.

Of heavyweights, Maybank and CIMB were flat at RM9.85 and RM7.22, respectively.

Public Bank gained 12 sen to RM21.02, TNB earned two sen to RM12 while Axiata slipped two sen to RM6.87. — Bernama
