KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 — A second anti-Trump protest erupted this evening outside the Ampang Park LRT station, drawing a crowd of mostly young adults chanting in solidarity with Palestine.
Many were seen wearing keffiyeh and face masks while holding anti-imperialism and anti-Trump placards and banners as they gathered in front of the station around 5.15pm.
“And now, the people’s tribunal is in session!” one of the protesters shouted, followed by chants of “Free, free Palestine”.
Meanwhile, a heavy police presence was observed across the street near the MRT Ampang Skate Park, with several trucks and officers stationed close to the protesters.
The second anti-Trump protest, organised by local movement group Sekretariat Bantah-Trump (SBT), went on for almost two hours before the group dispersed at around 6.45pm.
The protesters not only spoke up against the genocide in Palestine but also highlighted the plight of other countries in turmoil, such as the Republic of Congo, Iran and Yemen.
The group ended the protest by tearing up several posters featuring the faces of US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as a symbolic gesture of resistance.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said in a statement that about 120 participants gathered at a parking area beside G-Tower, at the intersection of Jalan Ampang and Jalan Tun Razak.
Fadil said that, similar to this morning’s rally, the gathering was peaceful and proceeded smoothly without any untoward incidents.
He also commended the organisers for cooperating with police instructions.
Earlier in the morning, another anti-Trump protest took place at Dataran Merdeka, drawing around 100 participants.
