PORT KLANG, March 29 — The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) will release an inventory of all the infrastructure owned and maintained by the ministry on its website next week.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh said this was to facilitate any party to use and obtain the ministry’s facilities.

“For example, there are sports associations that are looking for a hall, they can go directly to KBS’ inventory website,” she said at a breaking of fast ceremony with the Minister of Youth and Sports here today.

Yeoh said the launch of the inventory also aimed to make it easier for national sports associations that did not yet have a training centre to choose any appropriate assets belonging to the ministry.

She said KBS also had plans to add to the inventory list with the cooperation of the local authorities.

At the event, Yeoh also presented an RM20,000 grant to the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) to help the association organise tournaments for sports development purposes.

Meanwhile, MCA president Mohammed Iqbal Ali Kassim Ali expressed appreciation to KBS for its willingness to listen to the issues faced by the association and cricket in Malaysia.

Mohammed Iqbal said that if MCA was able to have its own training ground, it would help the men’s squad currently ranked 27th in the world as well as the women’s squad (28th in the world) to achieve various successes at the international level in the future.

“We just moved here (Bayuemas Oval) in August last year and little by little we have made improvements according to our needs. It is sad to have to leave Kinrara Oval, Puchong, after being there for 18 years.

“I am confident that if we had our own site to practice, this sport (cricket) would definitely be able to stand out more,” he said.

Meanwhile, touching on the preparation of the national cricket squad for the SEA Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, he said the team was ready to perform at the biennial games with the men’s squad capable of bringing home at least three medals. — Bernama
