KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 — More than 80,000 police personnel involved in the 15th general election (GE15) are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism, control their emotions and remain calm when faced with any form of provocation, says Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.

He said personnel should also avoid getting involved in situations that could cause tension and create implications that could affect the force’s credibility.

“As the country’s main enforcement agency, the police will continue to remain committed to defending national security and public order in every situation in line with the requirements of the Police Act 1967.

“Make the intention and instil a strong determination to carry out this trust with integrity, sincerity and patience,” he said.

Acryl Sani said this in a special address to all police personnel in conjunction with GE15 on the Royal Malaysia Police’s official Facebook page tonight.

“May all the sacrifices we make, with full love and sincerity, be blessed with commensurate reward from the Almighty,” he said.

He also prayed for the safety and protection of all police personnel.

“I express a sense of pride in all the police personnel involved directly or indirectly in ensuring the smooth-running of GE15,” he said, adding that he hoped all of them had equipped themselves with the knowledge and training required for the tasks ahead, besides learning from experience. — Bernama
