KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 — Malaysia recorded 4,239 new Covid-19 infections, the lowest since November 7.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah reported that the tally for confirmed Covid-19 cases now stands at 2,623,816 since the pandemic began last year.
Malaysia previously recorded 4,343 cases on November 7.
At a glance, the national positive case trend for the past seven days showed a 7 per cent decline based on the Health Ministry’s data on the CovidNow portal.
In his daily statement, Dr Noor Hisham revealed that there were 511 individuals requiring intensive care treatment, of which 418 were confirmed Covid-19 cases and the remaining 93 under investigation.
“Of the 511, a total of 261 require breathing assistance,” he said.
The number of recoveries also surpassed today’s figure at 5,007 people.
On the overall cases reported, Dr Noor Hisham said 73 or 1.7 per cent were of Categories 3, 4 and 5 patients.
Today’s infection involved 4,065 Malaysians with 162 cases detected among non-locals, and 12 more imported cases.
Apart from that, another three new clusters were registered today for a combined total of 228 active clusters to date.
Dr Noor Hisham also said the nationwide Covid-19 infectivity rate — denoted as R-naught, R0 or Rt — was at 0.96, with Labuan the highest at 1.19, followed by Kedah at 1.05, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya at 1.02, Selangor and Perak at 1.01.
