KUALA TERENGGANU, Feb 11 — Seberang Takir assemblyman Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman has resigned as the Opposition leader of the Terengganu state legislative assembly, according to the Terengganu Umno Liaison Committee.

Its deputy chairman, Datuk Din Adam, said today that Terengganu Umno received a copy of the resignation letter from Ahmad Razif on February 4.

“Hence, we urge the Terengganu state legislative assembly to write to Terengganu Umno for a new name to be proposed as the opposition leader.

“Terengganu Umno has yet to meet to decide on the candidate. This will be decided by the chairman of the Terengganu Umno Liaison Committee chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

The Terengganu media received a WhatsApp message today saying that Ahmad Razif, who is a former mentri besar, had resigned from the post and had informed Terengganu state assembly speaker Yahaya Ali in writing on Feb 4.

Yahaya, when contacted by Bernama, said he had not received the letter as he was on leave. Ahmad Razif and Ahmad Said could not be reached. — Bernama
