KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 — Rafizi Ramli said today he is unsure which position to be contested by the incumbent PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali in the upcoming party election.

Currently the PKR vice-president, Rafizi who is running for the deputy president post, said it is normal for the position to be a multi-cornered fight.

“I can’t tell because what is important is that we have consulted the grassroots for their views.

“Until you get the formal nomination, it is difficult to speculate [on Azmin],” he told the media after announcing his team of endorsed candidates at De Palma Hotel here.

When asked whether he will be battling for the same post against the Gombak MP, Rafizi said it would depend highly on the decision made by Azmin in the coming week.

“I have announced my candidacy… maybe there will be two or three more [contestants].

“I think let’s cross the bridge when we get there. There is no point speculating,” he added when quizzed whether Azmin’s decision would affect his decision later.

Meanwhile, the former Pandan MP declined to answer whether he had acquired the blessings of de facto PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and its incumbent president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to run for the top two position in the party.

“It is a democratic process, whoever wants to contest can file the nomination paper and campaign.

“I don’t know about other parties having to acquire the blessing. The question does not arise in the first place,” he said.

Rafizi had earlier announced several big names to be part of his camp for the party’s internal election next month, including Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar for vice-president, deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh for Wanita chief, and Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad as a member of its central leadership council.
