KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 — Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos is still unwell and will only cooperate with authorities to complete his bail process after he feels better, his lawyer Datuk Mohd Imran Tamrin said today amid fears he might have absconded.

Mohd Imran said Jamal had left hospital in a hurry on Friday, after he was discharged, to take care of work before office hours were over.

“He has informed us that he is still ailing and in the midst of recovery,” Mohd Imran said in a statement, referring to Jamal.

“He will show up in court and complete the bail process and cooperate with the police once he has fully recovered,” he added.

Mohd Imran stressed that Jamal had not intentionally tried to escape and added that the police had been informed of this latest development.

“The legal team believes there has been a little miscommunication, to the extent that the matter and his situation was exploited negatively,” he said.

According to online news portal Suara.tv, Jamal went to pilgrim fund Lembaga Tabung Haji to withdraw money for his remand after leaving Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital.

The Sungai Besar Umno division chief reportedly said he decided to rest before seeing the cops due to his health.

Jamal was charged with three separate offences in hospital on Friday where the magistrate’s court offered RM3,000 bail for each case.

He was, however, found missing from Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital by the assistant registrar upon her arrival at the hospital ward that same afternoon.
