SINGAPORE, April 13 — Two men who fled to Malaysia after allegedly robbing a Rowell Road establishment of S$300,000 (RM886,734) have been arrested and extradited back to the Republic.

The duo, aged 30 and 33, will be charged in court tomorrow for gang robbery, the police said in a statement today. The 30-year-old suspect will face an additional offence of an unlawful departure from Singapore under the Immigration Act.

If found guilty of gang robbery, the duo may each be jailed between five and 20 years, and caned not less than 12 strokes. Any unlawful departure from Singapore carries a fine of up to S$2,000, or jail time of at least six months, or both.

According to the police, a total of 12 suspects were involved in the Rowell Road robbery during the early hours of December 11 last year. The police did not say which establishment was targetted in that area, which has a number of restaurants and shops as well as public housing flats.
