SINGAPORE, April 11 — Expect hazy conditions — and a “burning smell” — over parts of Singapore this evening, the National Environment Agency (NEA) warned, following the detection of a hotspot in the south-eastern part of Johor in the afternoon.
In a Facebook post, the NEA said that the smoke haze from the hotspot is being blown by the prevailing easterly winds towards Singapore, resulting in the hazy conditions.
“For the next few hours, hazy conditions are expected over parts of Singapore, and members of the public may also detect a burning smell,” said the NEA.
“The 24-hour PSI is forecast to be in the higher end of the Moderate range.”
As at 5pm today, the 24-hr PSI was 48-57, in the Moderate range, and the one-hour PM2.5 concentration readings were 5-36µg/m3, in Band II (Elevated).
The NEA added: “We are monitoring the air quality closely, and will provide updates should there be any change in the situation.” — TODAY
