KUALA LUMPUR, June 21 Jun — A nursing sister of a government hospital will be celebrating this Aidilfitri away from her loved ones and behind bars as she could not raise the bail of RM49,000 on seven counts of dishonest concealment of money belonging to a housewife imposed by the Ampang Sessions Court here today.

 

Emiliana Saigol @ Martha, 58, who was with a hospital in Lahad Datu, Sabah, was seen wiping her tears and talking to her son after the court proceeding ended.

She was then sent to the Kajang Prison.

Emiliana was charged in two Magistrate’s Court with dishonestly concealing the money, involving RM284,000 , which belonged to the housewife, aged 55,  by transferring it into her bank accounts two years ago. 

The offence was allegedly committed at the Ampang Point Maybank and CIMB Bank branches between Sept 23 and Oct 19, 2015.

The charges were made under Section 424 of the Penal Code whicj provides an imprisonment for up to five years, or fine, or both, if found guilty.

Magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali and Magistrate Haslinda A. Raof  set bail of RM7,000 with one surety and also ordered the woman to report herself at the nearest police station twice a month until the disposal of the case.

Both courts set Aug 4 for mention. — Bernama
