KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 — The Pro Barisan Nasional NGO Pact and the Gabungan Akar Umbi Umno Malaysia (Gaum) today lodged police reports against former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad concerning his statement in the blog, CheDet, on June 7 which was alleged to be slanderous.
The president of both organisations, Zulkarnain Mahdar said Dr Mahathir had accused that whoever did not sign the ‘Deklarasi Rakyat’ (People’s Declaration) were traitors to the country.
“In addition, Dr Mahathir also said that the mouth of Umno members had been stuffed with fodder which resulted in them being unable to raise their voice or criticise the party president that is Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak,” he said in a statement today.
The police report was lodged at the Sri Petaling Police Station, near here.
Meanwhile, Zulkarnain said the summons against Dr Mahathir would be cancelled following the BN victories in the Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar parliamentary by-elections.
“The summons proposed earlier will be cancelled following the results of the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar parliamentary by-elections which favoured Umno and the Barisan Nasional with a big majority.
“This is a good sign and a clear message had been conveyed by the rakyat to Dr Mahathir that his actions were rejected by the people,” he said. — Bernama
