ROMPIN, March 12 ― Four members of a family perished in a car collision at km106 Jalan Kuantan-Segamat, last night.

District police chief DSP Muhammad Aidil Roneh Abdullah said the victims who were in a Proton Exora died at the scene in the 8.30pm incident.

He said the dead had been identified as Mohd Zaki Mamat, 47, his wife Jamilah Hussen, 46, and two of their children, Muhammad Zamil Izuddin, 17, and Muhammad Zamil Syazwan, 14.

“The couple's two other children, Mohd Zaki, Siti Nurjeha, 18, and Siti Nur Nabilah, 10, sustained serious injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, Zulkifli Abdullah, 47, was also injured.

“The accident is believed to have happened when the left front tyre of the Proton Exora burst, causing the vehicle to skid and crash into the Honda Civic in the opposite lane,” Muhammad Aidil Roneh told reporters here today.

He said Mohd Zaki who worked as a lorry driver, and his family were believed to have been heading to Kelantan from their home in Merlimau, Malacca.

The deceased and injured victims have been sent to Muadzam Sahah Hospital here, according to him. ― Bernama
