KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 1 — The Kedah Regency Council is set to meet with the state’s opposition assemblymen tomorrow after it met Barisan Nasional (BN) representatives amid the Kedah mentri besar crisis.

According to Amanah’s Pengkalan Kundor assemblyman Datuk Phahrolrazi Zawawi, 15 of the opposition assemblymen were notified today about the meeting that will be held tomorrow afternoon at Wisma Darul Aman in Alor Setar.

"We got calls and texts this afternoon on the meeting tomorrow. The ‘istana’ wants to meet with all the opposition here tomorrow over the MB crisis," he told Malay Mail Online when contacted today, using the Malay word for “palace”.

Phahrolrazi, however, remained coy about whether the opposition comprising Pakatan Harapan and PAS would support the ouster of Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.

"We will wait and see how the meeting goes. Let us hear and discuss first before we decide anything," he said.

The Kedah Regency Council met earlier today with all the BN assemblymen in the state, including Mukhriz, but no decision was announced after the meeting.

The 36-seat Kedah state legislative assembly is made up of 21 BN representatives, including two from MCA and the rest from Umno; eight from PAS, four from PKR, two from the DAP and with Phahrolrazi being the sole Amanah assemblyman.
