KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 ― Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia should now be able to table the Public Accounts Committee's (PAC) full report on the controversial National Feedlot Centre (NFC) project as there is no longer any court case related to the now defunct company, a PAC member said today.

Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua pointed out that the only reason the report was not tabled in Parliament was because of a court case involving Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail, the chairman of the National Feedlot Corporation (NFCorp) which was put in charge of operating the NFC.

“We now know that the case has been settled since the NFC boss has been acquitted,” Pua said at a news conference at the Parliament lobby.

“Now since the case is done, we hope the Speaker will release the report during this meeting, either tomorrow or the day after... it's just awaiting distribution to MPs so that the relevant action can be taken,” he added.

In June last year, the PAC said its report on the NFC scandal - which was handed over to the Speaker's office in early 2014 - would not be debated in Parliament on advice of the Attorney-General, who raised concerns that it could have undue influence on Mohamad Salleh's case.

Last month, Mohamad Salleh was acquitted of criminal breach of trust (CBT) charges against him in relation to RM49.7 million of funds meant for a national cattle rearing project.

He was charged in March 2012 with two counts of criminal breach of trust, including through the alleged misappropriation of RM9,758,140 from NFCorp’s funds through four cheques for the partial finance two condominium units purchased at the One Menerung complex in Kuala Lumpur.

Mohamad Salleh was also charged with the transfer of RM40 million through a cheque to the account of a company owned by him and one of his children, the National Meat & Livestock Corporation Sdn Bhd.

The NFC scandal hit the headlines in 2011 when the Auditor-General’s 2010 Report highlighted the failure of the federally-funded project in achieving its target of breeding 8,000 head of cattle in Gemas, Negri Sembilan, in 2010, besides noting NFCorp's management failures.

The scandal gained traction when it was revealed that the RM250 million project was awarded to NFCorp which was operated by the family of then cabinet minister, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
