IPOH, Nov 19 ― Floods have forced the evacuation of more people in Perak, raising the number of evacuees to 285 as at noon from 242 last night.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Yahya Madif said the additional evacuees were from Kampung Mesra Batu 7, Changkat Jong, Teluk Intan, Lorong Mesra Changkat Jong, Batu 9, Lorong Kedah and Kampung Baru Batu 8 in the Hilir Perak district, and their total number had risen to 171.

All of them were being housed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Changkat Jong, Teluk Intan, he said.

He also said that the number of evacuees in Bagan Serai remained at 44.

These people, from Changkat Lobak, Matang Tengah and Kampung Air Hitam, were being accommodated at Sekolah Kebangsaan Changkat Lobak, Bagan Serai, he said.

Yahya said the 70 people from Kampung Padang Serai, Pengkalan Bharu, in Pantai Remis were still at the relief centre at Sekolah Rendah Agama Rakyat Radhuaniah Kampung Padang Serai, Batu Hampar, Beruas.

The evacuees from Kampung Parit 6 housed at the Nurul Jannah surau in Batu 6, Parit, were allowed to return to their homes at 9 am, he said. ― Bernama
